When I Am Old

Dignity

Let me grow old with dignity,
This I demand,
Let me live life to the fullest,
Try to understand.

I have been self-reliant,
Used to my own way,
Don’t tell me I’m incapable,
And ask me to obey.

Consider me and how I feel,
I have my own identity,
Don’t lock me in some place,
Let me remain free.

Let me stay where I am,
I’ll try until I fall,
Celebrating life with others,
Giving my best to all.

Let me keep my ego intact,
Let me be me,
Don’t take away the joy of life,
Just let me be me.
