I Shape My Dreams

I Shape My Dreams
I am a dreamer and my dreams well up from inside,
Bubbling over into my life and spilling into each day,
I am a dreamer and I dream of things as I want them to be,
Bigger and greater than what life portrays,
Creative am I because I take thoughts that lie asleep,
And whittle and carve and gouge and sand,
Creative am I because I do not languorously wait,
I work and sweat and work with my hands,
Dreams cannot lie still or they die before they wake,
There must be time to nourish and grow and reap,
Dreams will fade if left for awhile, or simply fly away,
If untouched, I am certain they will not keep,
You have your thoughts and I will always have mine,
Your dreams may not be my dreams,
My life is ruled by unfinished castles and thoughts,
And my dreams are working constantly, it seems.
