Where’s the Green?

Where’s the Green?
Where’s the life giving green,
The green that pushed up just last spring?
Winter’s breath has chilled the ground,
And there is little life to be found,
Gray clouds have closed the sky,
Mother earth shrugs and sighs,
The trees raise their bony arms in prayer,
Pleading for the sun to be there,
The birds are gone with melodious songs,
And the nights seem unbearably long,
Yet I know that when the hour is due,
The green will appear, also the blue,
So patiently I wait, feeling change in the air,
Knowing spring will come and green will be here.
