Don’t

Don’t
Be careful how you wound me, I’ve been hurt before,
Don’t whisper that you love me, and then go out the door,
Don’t give me false impressions, Don’t touch my tender heart,
Yet don’t let anything, keep us apart,
Hold me a little longer, Don’t let me get cold,
My heart aches for you, I’m ready to be bold,
I see you standing by the door, with suitcase in your hand,
What part of “Please, don’t go,” did you misunderstand?
Last night you were wonderful, you made promises for today,
So don’t say, “I love you”, and then go on your way.
