I Want To Dance Again

I Want to Dance Again

When we first met,

We pressed together,

As we danced under the stars,

Moving together magically,

As if there was nothing to think about,

Just gliding about the floor,

Discovering how we fit,

How our bodies  melded,

How everything was synchronized,

Like we had been together for years,

When we stopped,

Still breathing in rhythm,

 We laughed,

 It felt so good,

Our spirits had been set free,

As time went on things began to change,

We danced more and more apart,

Not under the stars,

Becoming more like sparring partners,

Standing toe to toe, eye to eye,

Letting words we didn’t mean,

Float and fly,

And we danced,

But only as fighters do,

Becoming opponents, not lovers,

Not saying anything,

Or saying too much,

Dancing without touching,

Throughout the night,

But always in a fight,

A fight that should be finished,

With both of us forgiving,

And letting little things go,

Before this poison eats us alive,

 I want to dance again,

Like we did when we first met,

Free spirits who laugh together,

And glide through life,

Loving and dancing forever.

    1. When you are dancing with your partner, time speeds by. If with someone you don’t wish to be with, time drags his feet. Time is fickle that way. I’m glad you are flying and enjoying.

May the sun be on your face and the wind at your back as the Lord blesses you throughout the day. Carpe diem!
